Tips to pass the VicRoads tests
How to pass the VicRoads Learner Permit Knowledge Test
All the questions in this test will be based on the the 'Road To Solo Driving' handbook. Make sure that you read through the whole book at least once before taking the test.
- Practice by taking the sample test given in the VicRoads website. Take the test until you pass it at least 4-5 times in a row.
- In the test center, before starting your test, attempt the practise questions so that you become comfortable with the test format. This also gives you a chance to cool off if you are feeling nervous.
How to pass the VicRoads Hazard Perception Test
Your preparation for the hazard test should begin when you take your first driving lesson. Always study the road in front of you and be alert so that you have enough time to avoid any hazards that you might encounter on the road. Many of Calvin Driving School's students who passed the test say that nothing prepares you for the hazard test like a few hours on the road with the instructor guiding you on how to spot potential hazards.
- Don't be click-happy. Many test-takers fail the test just because they are too jumpy while taking the test. This leads to clicking the mouse even when no action might be required.
- Download the practice tests from the VicRoads website and make sure that you practice them enough times.
- In the test centre make sure that you attempt all the practice clips and score 100% each time. Start the test only after you have got each clip right.
- Study the freeze frame shown on the screen before the clip starts. It will provide you with many clues which will help you identify the hazard (for example, the speed, road conditions, traffic etc).
How to pass the VicRoads drive test
Plenty of time behind the wheels on the road along with a supervising driver is absolutely essential to pass the VicRoads drive test. But sometimes inspite of having enough practise many new drivers find that they have failed the test because they become too jittery! Test-takers generally fail their drive test for the following reasons: Speeding or driving too slow, not observing the traffic lights, driving too close to parked vehicles or to the kerb or not giving way to fellow passengers. Always be mindful of these points and make sure you don't do any of these during your drive test.
